“Talar is a pediatric ICU nurse in Northern Iraq with a special calling to care for children with Congenital Heart Defects (CHDs). She volunteers her time transporting children and their families around the country and world for heart surgery. As a Mideast Rescue instructor, Talar provides invaluable Pediatric Life Support training to her colleagues in the Kurdish region of Iraq.”

“Part of our mission to building-up local healthcare professionals and public servants is to create training materials in their language. Before attending in-person training, participants are sent online instructional videos and pre-course information to help them prepare for this intensive training. All of these materials are in their local Kurdish dialect.
After their training, nurses have contacted Talar with stories about children they’ve saved thanks to the knowledge and skills gained from our Pediatric Life Support course.”

"Someone was working in his clinic and a child was choking. And he did it! He saved the child! It's amazing," she exclaimed. Another team performed high-quality CPR for 30 minutes and saved a baby in cardiac arrest.

Thanks to this Pediatric Life Support project, nurses across the region are saving babies, together. To date, we’ve trained over 275 nurses and plan to train hundreds more.
